What Feeling!
So, I got an e-mail from Amazon saying my package had been delivered. It arrived early! I knew right away what was inside. Thrilled, I ran down the stairs and quickly opened the door and grabbed the package.
"Did it come?" Sherri asked excitedly.
"Yes! It's here!" I answered, hurriedly cutting open the package. Sure enough, the contents still have me smiling, the print proof of my very first novel, "Going Barefoot."
After all the brainstorming, the drafts, the re-writing; after all the one-more-steps; after the early mornings of writing and sometimes long, lonely hours; after thinking I was almost finished only to crest the hill and see the destination shimmering on the horizon; finally, it arrived. I was holding my book in my hand. I couldn't stop giggling, couldn't stop pacing with excited energy. I flipped through it, read some pages and paragraphs, both surprised and amazed that this story came out of me. Writing this story often felt like a dance with the creative muse. I feel so good about the finished book, overjoyed with completing this life-long dream. I can't wait to share it with whoever might like to escape to Lost Key on a mystery adventure. Ride along with Bailey in her yellow Jeep, smell in the salt air, and feel the warm breeze. It's as refreshing as a fizzy cherry soda on a hot afternoon. I'm so grateful for the community of support that helped me bring this forth. It's an incredible moment for me. "What a feeling!"
